本主題計畫簡介

近代中日關係的多重面向（1850-1949） 

近代中日關係的歷史，錯綜複雜，卻是影響深遠。本研究計畫將歷史時勢的演變轉向為經，兩國官方民間的互動交流為緯，就政治、外交、文學、經貿、文化、學術、媒體及宗教等課題，勾畫1850年至1949年這一百年間中日關係的多重歷史面貌。就宏觀視野言之，近代中國的國民國家之形成、學術思想之轉型與現代經濟之發展等三大領域，日本的影響，固是明白可見；惟如從近代以來數以萬計的留日學子與日本往來交流所呈現的人際網絡之微觀視野，進行探討，自可有愈形深入而全面的省思。本研究計畫的執行，既能為近代以來的中日關係史，展現更多樣的面向；也能為近代中國史的歷史脈絡，提供更豐瞻的認識。

 The Multiple Faces of Modern Sino-Japanese Relations, 1850-1949 

The history of modern Sino-Japanese relations is intricate and far-reaching. This research project illuminates different aspects of modern Sino-Japanese relations, including political, diplomatic, literary, economic, cultural, academic, media and religious themes, by tracing the development of political conditions and non-governmental exchanges between the two countries. In macrohistorical perspective, the formation of the Chinese nation-state, the transformation of modern Chinese thought, and the economic development of modern China have obviously been influenced by Japan; but in microhistorical perspective, the interpersonal communication networks between thousands of Chinese students studying in Japan and their Japanese friends also provide material for in-depth and comprehensive reflection. The execution of this research project not only enlarges our viewpoints of modern Sino-Japanese relations, but also provides a richer appreciation of the historical context of modern Chinese history.
